Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ramachandra College of Engineering (Autonomous), Eluru. The department began its journey in 2011 with an initial intake of 60 students, which was enhanced to 120 in 2012. In 2014, the department expanded its academic horizon by introducing a Postgraduate (PG) program in Machine Design with an intake of 24 students. Currently, the department offers a B. Tech program with an intake of 60 students and an M. Tech program in Machine Design with an intake of 6 students. The B. Tech program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) since the Academic Year 2018-2019, reflecting the department’s commitment to quality education and continuous improvement. The department is guided by its Vision to become a Centre of Excellence in Mechanical Engineering through quality technical education, innovative practices, and socially relevant research. The curriculum is aligned with JNTUK guidelines and enriched through Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles. It emphasizes a strong foundation in core engineering concepts, critical thinking, and hands-on experience in modern laboratories. The department is supported by a team of highly qualified faculty members, many of whom hold Ph.D. and postgraduate degrees. Faculty members are actively engaged in teaching, research, consultancy, and academic contributions. Their participation in reputed national and international journals, editorial boards, and technical committees helps maintain high academic standards. Research and innovation form the cornerstone of the department’s academic and developmental framework. Both completed and ongoing research projects, supported by various Government and Non-Government funding agencies, cover critical areas such as materials engineering, manufacturing processes, thermal sciences, and mechanical system design. These research endeavors cultivate a culture of innovation, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and actively involve students in addressing real-world engineering challenges. The department promotes holistic student development by integrating academic rigor with industry exposure, technical events, entrepreneurship development, and a strong focus on ethics and social responsibility. Graduates are groomed to become competent professionals with lifelong learning, leadership, and entrepreneurial capabilities, ready to contribute to the evolving needs of society and industry. Through a framework of continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with NBA accreditation standards, the department consistently strives for excellence in academic and research outcomes.
